Stores are now rationing food, cleaning supplies, and toilet paper. Is the great toilet paper shortage of 2020 driving anyone else bonkers? I can’t tell you how many stores I’ve sent my husband where the shelves have been cleared of merchandise, reminiscent of scenes from post-apocalyptic zombie movies. I never thought I’d ever need to make specific visits to brick-and-mortar stores as well as online stores just to find some booty-lovin’ toilet paper, and I certainly never thought I’d be blogging about TP, yet here we are.
The Coronavirus pandemic has brought the world to its knees while forcing humans to acknowledge our basic needs. From facing a food shortage due to closing food processing plants to dealing with the prospect of shifting our hygienic practices, life prior to the onset of this killer pandemic was taken for granted, and life as we know it, will never be the same again. As someone who is immunocompromised, I have been self-isolating for around 5 weeks.
Five weeks of not eating at a restaurant, not going grocery shopping as my “Me Time,” five weeks of actively worrying about people I don’t know while bearing witness to the incomprehensible loss of life documented across social media. I digress. Back to toilet paper. I checked every major online retailer and couldn’t find any toilet paper in stock.
There are also many instances of used toilet paper being sold online like this listing on Amazon, and other instances of swindlers taking advantage of people who long to keep their butts clean. DO NOT TRUST THIRD PARTY SELLERS! Stick to trusted retailers you know!
Grove Collaborative saved me, as my household is on its last package of toilet paper, and since we’ve been working form home, we’ve been using up more of everything than usual.
